infrastructure | art
Our interdisciplinary team has submitted a proposal for a series of interventions within the Spokane Street Viaduct in Seattle. We are collaborating with a Light Artist and a New Media Artist for an integrated and interactive Art Installation.
We are interested to form other collaborative partnerships with Artists, Engineers, and Researchers to study pattern and perfomance within the built environment.
STAVE | 0-plus also submitted a competition entry for Expo 2012, developing an idea of immersive experience, real time data transfer and the educational opportunities of new media interaction within a
coastal environmental condition.
BIO(da)TA project images are here.
STAVE | Workshop 173 researched a development proposal for the Fun Forest zone of Seattle Center. Our ideas for a temporary, 2-3 year installation include a modern-era Chatauqua as a city-wide community event on the emerging possibilities for the next generation economy.
sustainability
Efficiency, Economy and Flexibility are the starting point for our projects. Our research into materials, systems, and methods of construction apply to all scales of engagement.
We are involved in educational, research and professional endeavors with individuals and organizations
striving for broad-scale transformation in our relationship to the natural environment, and looking for
partners in that effort.
STAVE has adopted the 2030 Challenge which calls for a gradual reduction in building energy consumption over the next 20 years with a target of carbon neutrality by 2030. This policy has also been adopted by the AIA and the US Conference of Mayors. These goals are achievable, have already been demonstrated by
local and national projects, and we are excited by the rich living and working environments which flow from this commitment.
Of the triple bottom line of sustainability (environmental, economic and social), we are also participating in Public Architecture's 1 Percent Solution, contributing pro bono design services to local non-profits.
